The decompresion solenoid. If its out of adjustment or not working at all it will just click and give you the idea that your battery is dead. I have an '87 and had the same problem.Went through 3 batteries and really felt dumb after I found out what it was. But anyway easy and cheap fix, can't tell ya how but it didn't take the mechanic more than 20 min.
